Looking for a job

Post by winnyp » Wed, 10 Jun 2009 3:23 pm

Hi all,

I am an Indonesian and currently holding a Long Term Visit Pass with an approved Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) from Singapore Ministry of Manpower. I have been actively searching for a job in the last two months. I got couple of interviews, but still was not shortlisted by the employers. My preference would be an accounting job, but since I am still an entry level (with a one year experience as an accounts associate), I am quite open to any kind opportunity. I am still positive that there are opennings out there, therefore I really appreciate any referral, suggestion, or input on job searching strategies.

Regards,

Winnyp

Hi there Winnyp,

although you do have an approved EPEC that does not mean that a potential employer can justify employing a foreigner instead of a local. As you said yourself, you're only at entry level, so the market is full of fresh local grads competing with you. Thus I wouldn't get my hopes up to high for the next months if I were you. So you should make sure you have a contingency plan. Apart from that you can only keep trying but should be able to realise when it is time to cut your losses.

Sorry, Greenman... we are not allowed to publish any links to that particular newspaper.

Good luck.
