Searching job when in a Visit visa? How challenging is it?

Post by Shiddhiqua » Mon, 08 Jun 2009 11:48 pm

Hi,

I am an electrical engineer. Have two years of robust experience in Software Automation Testing. I am thinking to move to Singapore this August. Can anyone please guide me thru this?
I saw in Singapore immigration website, that its legal to search for a job while on a Visit visa.
I want to know how challenging it is to search a job fitting my profile in two months time?

I do not have much network in Singapore and should depend predominantly on Jobsites. Is it a worth idea that i can rely upon?

Just bothered about recession? Is Singapore IT industry hit by recession? I am open to work in IT or Electrical and Electronics industry.

The first thing you should do is check the job boards... Monster, JobsDB, JobStreet and others. See what you can find in your line of work.

Next identify companies that would hire you and check their job openings for the area.

Forget the recruiting agency posts on the job boards... nothing much ever seems to come of them.

Then make your decision. Times are tough.
