New Kiwi in Singapore

Postby kiwigal2009 » Sun, 07 Jun 2009 12:45 pm

Hi there,

I'm a 25 year old girl working in advertising who has just moved from New Zealand to Singapore for a job in an agency here. Looking for some fun expats to meet but having trouble finding them!

Can anyone recommend places to hang out i.e. a good British or Irish pub where expats tend to go for a Sunday pint...? Or after work drinks? Kiwi / Aussie bar?

Any help is much appreciated, I've gone from having a really big network of friends back home and I'm starting to stress out that I'm going to be very lonely in this city :-(

Thanks all x

Hey there! I'm in the same boat as you- actually just arrived today and already desperate for a bit of socialising over a pint! I hear Holland Village is the place to go for expats and was thinking of checking that out sometime this week or so.. If you feel like joining let me know! My number's 85093620- be great to hear from you

Hi, I'm from Auckland and planning to move to SG in next month or two...leaving behind bf, family and friends so I'm keen to start the ball rolling with this meeting people business :D Seems like there are a lot of people in the same boat so should be fun.

Hey fellow kiwis,

Been here for a few years now. Haven't seen Once Were Warriors in a very long time..and do they still play Shortland Street on tv back home?

If you want to socialise as well as improve your tan and get in a bit of exercise, you are most welcome to come along to Sentosa on Saturdays and play some beach volleyball. See thread below:

http://www.singaporeexpats.com/forum/ftopic54388.html

There's also a small beach bar there if you want some liquid refreshments. Not sure if they have Lion Red there though..

I'll try and dig out my kiwi flag and attach it to the court so you can recognise us!

Let me know if you're coming along and I'll PM you my mobile number in case you can't find us or need further directions.

JermD

P.S. There's another kiwi regular so you won't feel too outnumbered aye.
