Anyone recommend a quality low budget hotel around Bugis for $SG 80 max?

Check out Hotel Fragrance and Hotel 81.
They seem to have promotions right now as well.

Did you try www.latestays.com ? They have pretty good rates sometimes. Another alternative is to try the backpackers lodge. I think there are a few around Arab street/Serangoon area (which is reasonably close to bugis), like New 7th Story Hotel, The Hive, Prince of Wales, Bugis Backpackers?

Singapore is an expensive to stay...

7th Story's gone, demolished to make way for the next MRT line...
