Mover/Shipper from San Francisco Bay Area to Singapore

Post by maychui » Sat, 30 May 2009 12:20 am

Any recommendations of international Mover/shipper? I'm moving from Stanford, CA (San Francisco Bay Area) to Singapore. I don't have furniture but I have around 40 boxes. I hope they can pack the boxes for me and offer door-to-door service. Thank you very much!

lol. well, ok here's some advice.

its good that you have done the initial packing, once you've decided on a forwarder, try and get them to pack the items onto a pallet (or 2 pallets, depending on the size of the boxes etc, the forwarders will know), and then get them to secure the pallet with additional wrapping, strapping.

you have to remember to mention this to them, otherwise they will get lazy and send in your shipment as loose items (less secure, more potential for damage, leakage, etc). also if you're not purchasing insurance for this shipment, it may be best to leave out the fragile items !

the above applies for both airfreight and seafreight.

cheers + have a safe trip

Another person coming from the Bay area with no furniture, boxes only and just joined a couple days ago... What's the odds of that happening?

Not too sure of the odds but the IP checks out as it is Stanford University own IP address!

The other is an ISP out of Salt Lake City. So I don't think any funny business.
