need help brainstorming school choices

Post by Mondia » Wed, 27 May 2009 11:43 am

My 4 year-old currently attends an International School which functions closer to a local school. Thats fine except that its a preschool (so limited space, activities, equipment etc.) and we'll have to move her next year anyway. The school has a nice warm environment and she has fun, is learning well although her english is becoming...well, singlish. Should we let her stay on for another year or move her this year? Also, what are some good options? Speech/language is important for us but also an environment that promotes creativity and exposes children to different activities. We are considering Chatsworth, Dover, SAIS and OFS. Any others? SAIS looks good but of course is untested and has really long hours (8:30-4:00), which may leave my 4 1/2 year-old exhausted at the end of the day. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

She is happy, having fun and you agree the environment "feels" safe and secure. Don't move her away from this in pursuit of some perceived educational goals. She is only 4, and security and happiness are the most important at this age. Your daughter isn't having a problem at the school so there is no need to look any further than where your daughter is most happiest.
Of course you need to look around for the year after next, so its still worthwhile to continue your search.

I agree though there are times she looks a little bored. And that makes me wonder whether I should move her now or 12 months later...

not anymore or so I was told. Give them a call and you'll get a definite answer.
