There is now a bidding system for every crew and even the pilots. You can choose which destinations you wish to operate every month, and rate the destinations you desire according to your preference. Results depend on the demand of requests (not sure if it's subjected to seniority). Eg. Most crew will bid for high allowance destinations like Stockholm, Vienna, Rome, Paris.. You get my drift.

You might (don't quote me) get SIN if you bid for it because after arriving in SIN, you have to operate another sector to Jakarta and back (turnaround). Less crew are willing to do such a long layover (4 days on roster) so you guys will have a higher chance of getting SIN flts every month. But don't quote me cos it is always subjected to availability.

Hope this piece of information helps. =)

People, I really don't know what to say.. Please, if you want the job, you have to find means and ways to attend the Open Day. It is impolite to the host to arrive late and it reflects badly not just on you, but us, the Singaporeans.

And, if you are really interested in the job, you would have gone to Qatar Airways' website to find more information about the recruitment.

http://www.qatarairways.com/global/en/c ... dates.html

Be spontaneous and initiative enough to find out more. Don't expect anyone to feed you with the very obvious answers here.

p/s: I have not churned enough posts to reply private messages (if you do already know). If you don't mind me replying here in the forum, I will quote and reply. Otherwise, provide an email address for me to reply.

p/p/s: Please do not ask me how I got the job, what questions they ask etc. It depends on how you answer, and how well you portray yourself. And that, is something which cannot be taught/learned. Thank you.

halo..
u gt the job right and i actually find out the recruitment is at hilton. but just wanna ask more about ur job environment apart from knowing it from the website. anyway, they stated A willingness to relocate to Doha, Qatar. so is this really a requirement? email me and mayb we can discuss about it..

There is no need to use such massive quotes, it just wastes space in the database and the admin have to prune which means threads or parts of threads are deleted. You have said what you wanted to and you and anybody else would be well advised not to publish your private e-mail address, use your PM function instead - saves a few problems.

Culture & Frequency

Post by Baby0106 » Wed, 26 Aug 2009 6:37 pm

Hi DragonYee

CULTURE

Its good to know other singaporeans which u can either check from facebook, or reddots. But its better to learn all the different cultures as well. There are different syles n meanings to different gestures of different cultures. To go into details will be lengthy haha. What I can advise u, which im still learning to over here is, always use magic words, not much, actually PLEASE is more than enough. Eg, when we point using our index finger, it may be rude to certain cultures like Arabic. But for Arabic, pointing using the middle finger is like us pointing using the index finger. Just a few.

I cant talk much of culture here cos different ppl has different personalities n attitudes towards it. But it is a highly sensitive issue, as long as RESPECT is towards both cultures of 2 different ppl.

FREQUENCY

as mentioned, we do have a bidding system where by u can bid for ur flights home. Take note though, that this is not a MUST that u will n must get it every month. If the bidding is done on time effectively, inshallah (maybe in arabic) u will get at least one sin flight. again, take note though, that the layover is such like 24 hrs rest, then operate turnaround sin to jakarta, whereby u stay 2-4 hrs in a hotel (sheraton if im not wrong), then fly back to sin, 24 hrs rest before u fly back into doha.

All the best. Hope this answers.

Dear All

I will like to give my thoughts to these threads here.

1) Any job interview that an applicant wishes to apply, its not up to the applicant how long the session lasts. For the employer, all this is needed to see the patience n eagerness that an applicant has.

Specifically for QR interview, its a long interview even for the first day whereby u l just be sitting in n watching slides after slides about the history of QR. so if u want to end it by 12pm, it doesnt happen. I will then advise u no need to attend till u get off or leave from ur current employment n u go into the interview with an open mind n great earnestness

2) Male or Female will not matter unless it specifically stated either gender only. So far, I had not heard of any recruiters only wanting female only. Its both gender, in fact we have lesser males here.

For the confirmation on the interview n so forth, pls do visit qatar airways website for the correct n full details. And yes, the interview will be done in Hilton Hotel.

Feel free to pose any questions, i will try to answer it to the best of my knowledge.

Had been flying for 2mths now, had enjoyed all my flights so far, u need n must always try to look at the bright side of things. cos if u stay negative, u will be negative working here at all time.

Kudos, chao...

yes, im flying wif qr.

actually, just want to know how is the living standard in doha.

lving standard? some things are worth buying n spending, n some things are not. standard of living here is actually quite high. but being a crew, its quite okay, provided u noe ur limits in spending. cos ur accommodation, transport r all provided for company matters.

leisure wise, you do have shopping centres with branded stuffs, eg like citycentre, villagio & landmark. we hv carrefour n even giant in hyatt plaza. lulu hypermarket is like shengshiong in singapore.

and normally if u all not flying what will u all be doin there?
depends. u can visit ur frens or just catch up on the sleep which is what most of us crews r doing cos its tiring n its not always that u hv more than 2 days off. most of the time its min rest of 11hrs before u operate the next flight. u can oso go clubs here like irish bar, w, cube to name a few but they are only available every thurs or fri only.

Hope this answers. alternatively, u can also google about doha, on the weather, culture and so forth.

All the best...
