Hi

im currently in doha with Qatar Airways. Had finished most of our tests, wings soon.

experiences? its both good n bad. it will definitely be tougher than say, SQ, as the intensive trg here means within 7 wks, u MUST pass ur cabin svcs, esp ur sep which consists of the fleets u r operating, ur drills, practicals n all safety aspects covered including first aid. what i can advise is u hv to go thru all the manuals on a daily basis, quickly get over ur jet lag n concentrate.

we had only 1 day off per day, n it will be taxing. the locals here are okay, depends on how u look at it. b careful on who u r being frens with esp the local guys. esp once news of new batch is in, u l have ALL guys like hawk trying to hook on u cos u r fresh , but again, be a responsible person n get ur priorities right cos once u fly, u wil be exposed to more.

there is a new system for interbids now, but it will all depends. it doesnt necessarily means u can get the bids that u want, but u can bid for ur home flights up to a max of 10 choices with percentage ranging between 0 to 100%. and not necessarily 100% means u l get it. LUCK plays a part too.

salary wise, u will definitely earn about 1.3k sin during ur first 2mths, n it will increase when u start flying in the 8th wk (PASS THE EXAMS FIRST). in Riyals, ur money is lots but if u need to send back, the exchange rate will be horrendous.

dont trust the internet banking n soforth. its more trustworty with western union here, though u paid extra 150 riyal to ensure the smoothness..

just to share, when i tfrd my first pay, i had to fork out 2000riyal but when changed to sing dollars, it is only about 650 sing. i hv another senior cc (she joined 3 wks earlier than me) n she was in TEARS cos of the exchange.

but all in all, we had been here, n minus the weather n some boredom at times, once u have access to ur internet, which u can apply once u have ur RP (residence permit), things will be better.

have a clear mind. n if u place priority of money over being a professional cabin crew, u may be dissappointed.

all im saying is, QR or any other airlines, they do have their own sets of rules & they are in place as a precaution for us as staffs. I respect the company n the money they r pouring in on me...I just have to always be careful not to do WHAT was not ALLLOWED.

thanks for reading.... :D

i am late in answering ur questions ppl, but hope it will be of great help for future references.

Qatar Airways has known itself to pride being 5 star airline n best in the service.

the interview process wil be

a)an open day
-sit thru at least 3 videos on doha, on qatar airways itself
-hand in resume AND dats where u might want to make the recruiter sit up n notice u. be courteous n maybe ask only 1 or 2 questions to make urself noticed n hv eye to eye contact with the recruiter.
- then go back n wait for their call witin a day
-ensure ur contactable no. is in the resume n ensure YOU are contactable

b)2nd interview
- sit thru english test
- during the test, u l be doing the reach test n some questions n answers with the recruiter
- be pleasant, how? just treat them like strangers that u see on the street but u are comfortable to talk n smile n acknowledge their questions
- group discussion
be assertive on ur ideas, though u may not agree n do not be "kissing ass", or too commanding during the discussion...

SELECTION

c)3rd interview
- another group discussion
- more on home issues in doha like flatmate conflicts, flight conflicts
- same, too, dunt just agree or disagree

SELECTION

d)final interview
- whether u r ex crew or fresh, recruiters are just looking for X and this is also where luck comes in

All in all, u should receive a confirmation that u went through on the final when they asked u to go for ur medicals. Pls ensure ur medicals are all as per what QR requsted, otherwise, this is when u will hv to retake ur medicals over n over again

their next confirmation will be an approval of ur medicals, thats when u can hand in notice to ur present employer

the visa n e ticket details will follow

for packing wise - it is advisable to follow what they had advised u too.

pack too food like maggi noodles, sardines, soups, stocks, for u to cook ur home dishes (be it guys or girls), or ur luvd biscuits n so forth. cos i guarantee u that u l not find anything like spore food here at all...unless u luv indian foods n kebab or moroccan foods bcos thats what we have here. even vegetables are not as variety as what we have...same too for fruits...

when u get here, u l be given 2000riyals to tide u till pay day. the phone card that will be given to u will not last long n the prepaid will make u keep topping up if u miss home. next best option is if u do have a laptop, bring it along. or u can go to nearest internet cafe. all accommodations have nearby supermarkets, shops, internet cafes, n its damn cheaper to communicate with ur luvd ones.

for ladies, do not wear like u wanna wear in spore, shorts all that. my advise is blend in with the crowd-appear unattractive if u want to when just gg to nearby shops as u dont want to hv unattracted attention.

n after that, it will all fall into place...trust me...and always mentally remind urself that

Hi Fakel

There is an opening for Singapore this Aug 29 if im not wrong.

Your height is okay. As long as when u need to pass the reach test of 212cm (to get hold of the Safety Equipment) n basically to close the overheads when you start flying and arrange the bags to maximise the space.

And anyway, when during the reach test, you will be asked to touch the end of 212cm on your shoes, so dont worry, just be stable when you reach out hehe...

I have no particular question, but its just that I maintained my eye contact as well as was responsive n greeted them when i passed my resume. Even if they are not taken in to you on your first meet, they will still look through your resume and hopefully somethng captures their attention.

Sincerely, the rest is luck...

& yourself being an ex crew will be an advantage. im sure you could sail through.

I wish you the best!!!
