Partner moving to Singapore - Advice needed!

Post by smithysan » Mon, 25 May 2009 2:10 pm

Hi all,

Im sure you have all answered this question before but any help would be appreciated.

I have been giving a one year secondment out in Singapore with work so they will be providing me with apt, job, pass etc... But I would like my long term girlffriend to come out and join me - is this feasible? As we are not married, I dont believe she would qualify for the spouse pass - and presently she lives in Canada while I live in the UK.. Would it be feasible for her to come over and then start looking for a job then? She presently is a fashion buyer in Canada and would like to stay in that field - any advice on that job market?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am not an expert, so others might know of better options.
The Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) is for foreigners who wish to have some time to look for a job in Singapore. The EPEC grants the holder up to a 1-year Social Visit Pass (SVP). The EPEC is issued on a one-time basis and is non-renewable.

You may apply for EPEC if you hold acceptable tertiary/professional qualifications. You should apply only when you are ready to come to Singapore.

EPEC sounds like the best option for your situation, as recommended by wcs.

Check the list of Selected Institutions published by the Ministry of Manpower, so you can gauge whether your girlfriend is likely to qualify.
