Where to live with 2 kids in the Singapore American School

Post by jewiley » Sun, 24 May 2009 12:06 am

Any suggestions regarding the best place to live with 2 kids at the Singapore American school? I understand that living in the Woodlands area is very convenient for school events but what are the downsides, if any, for living in that area? I will be coming from the US.

Hi jiwiley, it really depends on:

~ your budget

~ their interests and ages

~ where the working spouse will have to commute to

~ how much expat 'insulation' you will need

~ if you are keeping your own place in the US

~ how long you plan on being here

~ what your interests are apart from school

~ if you will have a car

Once you look at all those factors (and all the ones I have forgot) then you can start to narrow down your search. In the meantime, do a search on this forum for 'Woodlands' -- you should come up with some answers in the meantime. PM me with any specific questions.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

You would be better off putting you specific question here on the board for several reasons. One being you will get various viewpoints instead of only one person's opinion/viewpoint. That can be dangerous for a newcomer. I'm not saying r.n.t.'s advice is wrong however. But one person is definitely not the be-all and end-all here.

And, secondly, if you have specific questions, that have not been addressed here before and/or cannot be located using the board's search facility, then there may well be others out there with the same question who. You're question may help others who follow. That's what this board does.

We hope you will also become a contributing member of this board in time to come as you settle in.

for woodlands area, these are the few condo i would recommend

- rosewood
- casabalnca
- woodgrove condo
- the woodgrove

all are about 2-3 bus stops away from the Woodlands MRT station & shopping centre causeway point..

it really depend on wat u looking for & ur budget..

woodlands is in the northen part of singapore.. so to go to the town area like orchard rd may be quite a distance away.. about 30mins MRT ride if i am not wrong..

hope this helps.. thks
