question about calligraphy if someone knows.

Post by typophile » Sat, 23 May 2009 7:03 am

Since im relocating in singapore next week,
my main job is calligrapher - type designer
so i'm trying to figure out where i can get
some lessons about chinese calligraphy.

i have contact The Chinese Calligraphy Society of Singapore
but unfortunately they only answered me that they
dont have any class or lessons for foreigners :(

If someone has any tip about it, will be appreciated it
-Cheers

You may wish to look for an introduction course into Mandarin and Chinese Culture, they sometimes have the workshops at Universities, or even the Community centres...

If you have a month free, i would go to the cultural University in Beijing, it's very good, and cheap with accommodation on campus. It's the Beijing language institute, I also believe they used to have a school in Singapore, best thing to do is drop them a letter, to the Beijing office and ask if they still have the courses in Singapore. I had a great 9 months in Beijing, although the smog was really bad back then.

The Chinese Chamber course is pretty good, one of my friends attended it and found it a great experience!
