Mui Ne, Perhentian, Kota Kinabalu??

Desperately trying to find the best destination for our holiday in June. Were hoping to go to Lombok or Bali but there are no cheap flights available.

So now we are contemplating between Mui Ne - Vietnam, Pulau Perhentian or Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia. We are traveling with kids (3 and 7 years). Hoping to find some beautiful beaches, friendly service and good food. Any experiences?

Perhentian is a long way to go with 2 kids. Kota Kinabalu, don't really have a nice beach, although, you can get a boat to some small nearby islands. Can't remember which one I go, but I can ask/check with the dive shop that bought me that, if you really want.

Havent been to Mui Ne, but maybe you can consider Hoi An. You can fly to Da Nang (via Silkair), take a 1 hour cab to Hoi An. There are beaches, as well as a nice river with restaurants on the side (think Boat Quay/Clarke Quay, but lesser people, more rustic feel). The food quality is very good as well. I don't think there are 5 stars hotels (since its a small town) but the 3 stars / 4 stars hotels are very nice and cosy (clean as well, so no worries!).
