Non-bio washing liquid/powder

Post by Riversmeet » Tue, 12 May 2009 6:31 pm

Does anybody know whether non-biological washing detergent for clothes is readily available here in Singapore? I have recently arrived and needed to buy some non-bio, ended up buying Persil, which is pretty pricey. All the other brands did not appear to mention whether they were non-bio or not.

Having young children, and a husband, with sensitive skin I want to make sure that the washing detergent I use will be kind to their skin.

Thanks for any responses.

At first the only 'baby friendly' powder I could find was Ivory Snow which I bought from The Market Place at Tanglin Mall for $10 for a small box.

Later I found a box of Percil Non Bio for just a bit less but a bigger box (think $8) at Cold Storage but when I went to buy another box a few weeks later they didn't have any so I'm now using one of the local baby brands call Pureen - cost about $5 and it seems to clean the clothes OK but seems to be bleaching the colours a bit.

To be honest, although the Percil non bio is a bit pricey compared to back home, I haven't found any other non-bio wash powders. I think I found Ariel in liquid form but I nearly died at the price - think that was about $14!

If you find any others on your travels, please let me know.

The only other non-bio ones are at the organic/natural food shops and they are even more expensive. They are very gentle though. The two brands I've seen are Ecover and Seventh Generation. You need to check the label because those brands have both bio and non-bio products.
