Unhappy 16 year old!

Post by nicjim » Fri, 08 May 2009 4:52 am

Hi there, we are moving to singapore in july and my daughter will be going into year 12 at Tanglin school in september. She would like to meet up with others who will also be going into the 6th form at this time. She does not want to move to singapore and leave her friends in the UK. It would really help if she could get to know a few faces before she walks into the school in sept.
Thanks

I'd recommend you not publish personal e-mail and closely supervise and screen any replies you get from here.

She'll have the same new kid ajustment as she would have in nearly any other city. Plenty of western kids at the schools and she'll find friends pretty quickly.

Also, if she has a Facebook account, it's a great way to network. She can search for school groups in Singapore associated with whatever school she's going to and get an idea of the place and people by reading the posts.

Thanks for that, the Facebook idea is a good one!
I am aware that putting the email address was not a good idea, however as you can see im new to the forum and was stuggling with the PM part of it!!

Nicjim, as pakjohn says, be very careful given your kid's age. Our 16 yr old god-daughter has a Facebook page and I was shocked at what I saw on that!

Usual rules apply - no real names (no surnames anyway), no dates of birth, and only a few pictures. And, remember, your role is to monitor monitor monitor! They sure as hell hate it, but there are lots of crazies out there!

Here in SIN it's pretty safe, but safety first.

Good luck with your move, Mr. P
