Opinion about NPS

Post by hg » Wed, 06 May 2009 2:48 pm

we will be moving in to SG from Bangalore on 1st June. We have two kids - one boy who will be going to Std 4 and one girl who will go to Std 3.

Visited SG in last week of Apr and went around to see DPS, GIIS and NPS. Also saw UWCSEA and OFS. While we liked UWCSEA the best, but in the end it proved too expensive. Out of the rest we liked NPS the best (at least based on the short interaction we had). Anyone here sends their kids to NPS?

I will like to hear some first hand feedback. Here in Bangalore they have a solid reputation although they are known to be "too academic". NPS SG said that they are trying to change that in SG and will do 40% time allocation to extra curricular activities. Its important for me that they really do that.

Note to MODs: I know that this post should really be in Schooling forum but I searched and found a similar post there which was never answered and so posting it here for a better response.

Wow, 90 views and no reply. It awfully quiet in here.

Looks like NPS is so new that most folks here haven't even heard of it :-)

PS: In the mean time we have admitted our kids to NPS. They did a rather long (1hr) test for both kids here in Bangalore and though it was the first time my kids faced such a test, they somehow passed in flying colors.

Hi Hq,
I saw your post earlier but was caught up with other pressing matters.
You have made a great decision wrt the choice of school.
My daughter was in GIIS and we recently shifted her to NPS. Its a sea change.

It will be very helpful if you share your views.

I'm currently looking for a good school for my kids - we will be moving to Singapore early next year.

Kingajit,
Having made the change from DPS to NPS, I would like to know what were the differences between them.

hg,
Hope you and your kids must've settled in by now. What is your opinion of NPS? Do they focus on ECA's along with studies? How are the facilities in the school? Are you satisfied with the school?

Thanks a lot.

Post by mjbhagwat » Thu, 24 Dec 2009 1:19 pm

Any feedback for NPS class VII and onward standard. My son got throught PSLE and got qualified for express stream in secondary school. Howeve based on the score he will be getting into average local school only. I would like to evaluate if NPS is better than average sec local school, pls let me know the feedback if your kids are in NPS (class VII - X). tks.
