Singaporean with OZ Nursing degree cannot get registered!

Post by aalyana » Thu, 07 Apr 2011 2:58 pm

I have trouble getting my registration with SNB too. I am a Singaporean but I did my nursing degree in Australia. I face the same problem that many UK/US/Aus nurses face in obtaining a job here. I have to get a job offer first before I can get registered and even being considered I will be required to undergo 6 months of competency assessment with the hiring hospital and pass the assessment before I can be considered for registration. SNB system is so screwed up. Even to sit for the license exam we need to get a job offer first. Why cant we do it directly like the Nursing board of Australia? They have so many Phillipines/China nurses here. These people have no problem registering. I think it all comes down to cheap labour!

This thread it a bit dated, but I was wondering if any of you who expressed interest were able to secure nursing positions. If so, how is t job going. If not, how is the search going? Thanks.

wow misinformation

just to clarify, Filipino nurses just like other foreign nurses are required to have a job offer before they can sit down for a license exam. As a result, the Filipino nurses go through overseas placement companies who arrange the job offers before they are allowed to leave for overseas. before this, the Filipino nurses pay placement fees etc. to the placement companies.
