Relocating From Dubai

Post by macfaks » Wed, 29 Apr 2009 6:14 pm

Hi,

We are relocating from Dubai to Singapore and would like to bring our Filipino maid with us. Does anyone know whether this is an easy process? How do we arrange residency/visa for her?

Any help or information would be great.

Thanks!

does she want to come with you?

Just mail her back home for a few weeks and import her back to Singapore.

Has she worked in Singapore before? If so, the work is already basically done and you just need to reapply for the permit. If not, it's a little more involved. First step is to go to the Ministry of Manpower website and look under FDW permits. You will need to already have your FIN number and an address - if you or your partner are already in Singapore you can file the paperwork and when you get the in-principal approval letter she can come in with a photocopy. (So she wouldn't have to go home first.) If you wait to file the paperwork while she is here under a tourist visa she'll have to leave the country and re-enter once she gets the approval. If you don't mind spending money an agent can file all the paperwork for you and assist when she arrives in getting the medical and first time FDW tests done. Do a search on this forum for agencies.
