Little Village on the Grange

Post by SanFranMamma » Mon, 27 Apr 2009 3:28 pm

Hello...

Has anyone sent their child to Little Village (on Grange Rd). We are wondering what their curriculum is like, and if it is structured for older children at all (we have a 4 year old daughter).

Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi San Fran Mamma,

I am from SF too! Just saw your post- hope this super late reply is still helpful.

My son (who is 3) has been at Little Village since he was 2. I am really happy with it. To be honest, I don't know what curriculum is followed.

I like it because the teachers pay attention to the needs of each child as an individual. I am a working mom and my son's teacher will send me emails about his progress and we schedule update calls regularly.

There is a large emphasis on drama, and parent participation, so there have been lots of performances and other opportunities for parents to come to school. They have a open door policy which is nice too.

My biggest issue with it is that it is situated in a high turnover area i.e. lots of new parents on short contracts, or parents who live in the Orchard/River Valley area when they first arrive and then move further outwards later. So, in one year at least 1/4 of the children have left. I suppose all the schools in the Central area face that problem.

Good luck choosing a good school for your little one.
