Incidentally, that's Tokyo's JR Chuo Line, probably c. 1980s based on the uniforms and train livery. They've since put a lot of effort into increasing the capacity and things are no longer nearly that bad... although you might not believe it if you're foolish enough to venture aboard at morning rush hour
