entertainment/media jobs in singapore

Post by djplanbizzle » Wed, 22 Apr 2009 3:31 am

Hello all,

This is my first post on here and just wanted to introduce myself quickly. My name is Amar and I currently live in Hollywood, California in the US. I work in entertainment over here, developing and producing movies for a startup studio.

Over the past year, I've been reading about how Singapore is trying to develop itself as a media hub for all of Asia, and potentially even the rest of the world. This got me seriously interested in moving to Singapore and finding a job in this industry. After being in Los Angeles / Hollywood for nearly 2 years, I'd like to branch out and find new opportunities abroad. I've visited Singapore twice and have already fallen in love with the city, hence my wanting to move here.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on
1) where to look for jobs in media / entertainment
2) how is the market for that industry? has anyone noticed any upward or downward trending?
3) any advice on how to go about pursuing this? Where do i start?

Thanks for any and all help.

Cheers

thanks for the link! this is a great start. More specifically however, i'm looking for a creative executive / managerial position within a media company. A position where I can develop and produce media products - film/tv/internet - rather than act in or direct them (for now).

I'm working on the finance side of film here in Hollywood so i'd like to stick with that for the time being. Basically, the producers are the guys who control the money into a movie, as opposed to the director who actually helps film and make the movie itself.

Any advice / information would be supremely helpful.

LIke I said, start there. The sites just about cover the entire industry here. I'm sure if you can make contact there, they can direct you to names that you need provided you have the credentials to present to them.

I don't have any more info though....

Agencies

Post by casting » Sat, 09 May 2009 3:00 pm

hi,

you can try these agencies for acting:

Fly Entertainment
Music & Movement
Artiste Management
Artiste Entertainment

Do note that they wld most likely sign you if you have some acting experience.

you can try these for modelling:
Phantom
Mannequin
Upfront
I mdoels
looque

They all manage acting talents.

You can also try posting yourself on www.AADB.com.sg if you cant find representation.

You can also call Production Houses directly as Spore does not have a guild and you do not need to be with an agency to find work.

good luck
