ODYSSEY or any other schools

Post by jennifer lynn roger » Tue, 21 Apr 2009 8:05 pm

OK, I went to both Odysseys to find out for myself what is so great about this school that fees are so high.
Wilkinson, not allowed to enter the school because I did not make any appointment! One parent I met outside the school told me they have HFMD outbreak. I'm very surprised to see that children were walking in from the main gate on their own. No one to receive them? There was a table with some files and a tray with a thermometer there too. Are the children expected to take their own temperature before going to their classes?
Alexandra, place is very spacious and clean. People there are very friendly. Sadly, the space is not any impressive as the one at Wilkinson. But the Alexandra Principal was very patient in answering all my questions. Honestly speaking, after hearing about their program and seeing their facilities, the fee that they are charging is not too high afterall. I asked my neighbor to go check out this school too. She went today without appointment and was welcomed and treated with the same respect and attention I got.
If we do not find another better school by June, we will most likely join Alexandra Odyssey. Anyone have any good schools to recommend? We have a common driver so travelling is not a problem.

Odyssey @ Alexandra

My daughter is at Odyssey, Alexandra. I highly recommend it.

We had a few teething problems, as I think you'd get anywhere. But on the whole it is far better than anywhere else we found in Singapore and we checked out just about everywhere!

I was interested in the Alexandra location, was treated great when I visited there, but the fees are just too high in my opinion.

I suppose it depends on your expectations / requirements. It is less than half the cost of my daughter's nursery in Europe. There were other places I saw that were half the price again but the teachers' English was not very good, or the play things were old, or the facilities shabby, etc.

Also so many other other places put way too much emphasis on learning, rather than learning by playing. Between the ages of 0-4 children should be exploring, not being taught.

I really like odyssey. Don't know abt the other centre but I checked out the one at wilkinson.

Anyway, here's a review on it... i guess you gotta take it with a pinch of salt, but none the less.

Odyssey School

Hi,
I really cannot recommend Odyssey School at Fourth Ave.
Poor management, they do not seem to care, good teachers-student ratio BUT for the age of 18 months: 36 children (!) in 2 classes.
Very disappointing.
