IP Address - Access to TV Episodes

Post by cbavasi » Sun, 19 Apr 2009 8:15 pm

Hey there - I often watch television shows online but many times when I try to access full episodes from Bravo, ABC, A&E ... etc. I can't view b/c it knows I'm not in the US. Is there a way around this on my computer? I don't remember this being an issue before we purchased a new computer here in Singapore... is the host site registering where I'm coming from b/c of the IP address? Any help appreciated.

the only way round it is to have some sort of proxy server running in the home country so that your computer in singapore will be using an IP address of the home country.

for copyright issue/restriction, some of the online TV are not allow to go out of the home country, hence they will use geo IP to block any IP range that is not within the home country.

for example, i am using a UK proxy (hosting it via my own broadband connection in the home country) so that i will get a UK IP range, therefore i am able to watch all the online TV channels in the UK.

drop me a PM if you want to trial it. :)
