Super Overbilling by a Telco - Where to complain???

Postby biyok's gurl » Fri, 17 Apr 2009 3:49 pm

Hello everybody!

I have this bills from my mobile line.
OMG so overbilled!!!!
I just found after i requested the detailed billings!!!!!
They have this promo that says IDD will be charged like the local call rates. I paid my 1st and bill as it was billed because I always believe that SG is really a country where everybody abides the rules!!!
Then when my bills arrived i started thinking that it was really strangely high. And then there's a portion wth no breakdown on it, then i asked for it only to find out that I am charged twice of my international calls!!!!

IS THERE AN AGENCY OF THE SG GOVERNMENT THAT ATTEND TO THIS?

HELP!!

I AM SO DISMAYED BY THIS RIGHT NOW.

The first thing any govt agency will ask is what does the telco say? You only give one side of the story.

Have you contacted the telco to ask for an explanation?.

Could be:

1. A typo/ clerical error,
2. Could be your error, ie you did not read the small print, like offer only valid for a month

Which is probably the cause of it. Most of the time it is. The telco's depend on customers who only sign on the dotted lines after listening (half way) to the sales dummy and are only looking at the bright shiny new phone that was just dangled in front of 'em.

In which case the OP has to pay up because she "always believe that SG is really a country where everybody abides the rules!!!"

yeah i thought of that at first.
i really understand your points guys.

at first, i thought that i could have misunderstood the retailer's explanation of the said promo.
but i consulted with the other retailers of the same telco, all of them are saying the same thing - with this promo the rate of the IDD = local call which is 0.15/ min as long as i pay an additional of 5.35 monthly.
apart from that, I called the CSR not just once to verify my understanding sa well... all same explanations!!!!! GRRRRR!!

BG you still are not making much sense,

Now you are saying that you get the discounted rate if you pay the 5 bucks a month extra. Have you paid the five buck extra?

And you still have not said what the Telco says when you question the bill telling them they have charged you twice.

You are probably on the same contract as the mio clan, and haven't had your IDD line configured to digital, for two mobile phones. That is to say if you are using the mobile in your home, you have to connect to the VOIP line, to phone overseas, it just doesn't connect by itself.

We pay a few $ a month and get free calls in Singapore and cheap international calls, however, the rates are not always the cheapest, on the international calls 1511 being cheaper to some destinations.

Anyway, to put it bluntly, you have lost, and will have to pay the money, I haven't known anyone, only myself that got away with an excessive phone bill and that was on an analogue line, which at the time did not log phone calls out and the telco couldn't prove i had used it, when an analogue line can be tapped from any place outside the premises.

Those days are gone, but it was a telco refugee, who showed me how they was doing it from outside of my bosses office in the middle of the night. Just goes to show how weak the security of phone lines was in those days.

its been settled.

Mr Reporter you are right.
Negligence on my part for not getting all the details.
It was that the promo really applied to what was explained to me.
That the fixed line IDD arte is billed only with the local call charge.
Yeah i have been billed twice.
For my IDD to a mobile phone.
Twice because -it has an IDD rate + the local airtime.

Learned my lesson, the hard way though.
