Compensation Package

Post by vanessaG » Thu, 16 Apr 2009 1:43 pm

Hi,
My child is doing a project on Expatriate Compensation. She just needs to know what's included in the package as she is just reviewing an organization. She does not require to know values like salary and how much allowance.
You could just state 'Transport Allowance, Free Housing, Medical Benefits, etc.'

would really appreciate your help.

Thanks
Vanessa

Anything from absolutely nothing on local salaries (becoming more and more the norm) to obscene salaries (in some industries), housing allowances, travel allowances, schooling, medical, car allowance, home leave & airfares a couple of times a year, relocation allowances (coming and going), and almost anything else you can think of to try to get out of them.

Maybe road.not.taken will see this as she probably gets it all (or at least her husband does) so can probably can add to it.

Add: 'hardship allowance', payments for double taxation, generous vacations.

Current package includes:

Housing allowance
Medical insurance
Education allowance for the kids at school of our choice
Home leaves, 2X year for the family
Utilities
Allowance for one car
Repatriation costs
Landline Phone & Fax
Hardship allowance for double taxation

I thinks that's it -- I don't know honestly, it changes from employer to employer. All of these perks come with a lower overall salary than a person doing the same job without the 'package'. Hope this helps :)

P.S. Why isn't your child the one doing the research?

First post? Maybe Vanessa is doing her own homework so she knows what to tell her husband or herself maybe on what to ask for if she gets an overseas posting?

Plus the free use of company shrink and the cost of Ernst and Young type accountant for the annual preparation of tax docs.
