Hi!
I'm coming to Singappre for an exchange semester at Singapore Management University (from Canada).
As I will not have a land line telephone, I was wondering if one has to pay to receive calls on Singapore telephone plans. I know from experience that receiving international calls in CAnada can be incredibly expensive, but I've lived in Norway for several years, and there you only pay for outgoing calls.
What is it like in Singapore?
And if you DO have to pay for incoming calls, how much would an incoming call from ie Canada or Norway be?
How much would it cost to call Canada or Norway on a Singaporean cell phone?
I appreciate anyone's help!
THanks!!

Yes, you pay to recieve calls.
But I think you pay the same amount, regardless of who calls you.
Howcome Norway? Snakker du norsk?

We use only hand phones and call the US as well as receive calls from the US. We don't pay any fee to make the calls or receive them, but it does use our alloted minutes whether we make the call or receive the call. We use calling cards to make the calls - I get a Spectrum card for S$10 and get 222 minutes of talk time with no conncetion fees.

I get Spectrum cards from the money changer in the basement of the Paragon - however, I suspect just about any money changer shop will have them. You may also find them at 7-11 stores as well.

I've been researching phone plans lately, and there are some that don't charge for incoming calls. Check out Singtel and Starhub (I think?) I don't remember which one had the no-incoming charge deals, but they do exist.
good luck

It's Starhub that's offering the no-incoming call charge deal.
