can baby eat royal jelly?

how old is needed for a baby to consume royal jelly?

Can they? Probably. But should they? Depends on the age I think. Not sure about royal jelly, but 'no honey for infants under 2' was the rule when mine were young. Please ask your doctor.

We raised bee's, lots of them, on our family farm and processed the honey each season. I remember my dad would tell people not to give the kids royal honey till they're over two years old. It's one of those things I never questioned, just accepted it. I followed that same rule with my kids.

I'm a huge fan of raw honey and bee products including bee pollen!

The current advice in the UK (see NHS web site) is no honey for a child under one due to the higher risk of botulisum which has a paralising effect (it's what Botox is derived from) I imagine that royal jelly carries the same risks. If you do give your child bee products get good quaility mass produced stuff from a western country as a sterile jarring process is very important in reducing risk, but personaly I just wouldn't chance it.
