Look out for Young Parents magazine that will have a special 200-page issue focusing on PreSchooling. Issue out on newstand on Friday this week, Oct 8. My son is 10 months old and I am going to get the issue my self. Regards,Daphne

Hi Helen,

Since u r at Orchard, u can try Julia Gabriels(http://www.juliagabriel.com/) who also has its preschool known as Chiltern House in the Forum Galleria itself.

There are other reputable private ones like
Lorna Whiston(http://www.lornawhiston.com.sg),
Pat's SchoolHouse http://pachome1.pacific.net.sg/~yoko/kinder/pats.html),
EtonHouse International(http://www.etonhouse.com.sg/)
Modern Montessori (http://www.modern-montessori.com/)
and many more can be found in the last few pages of any issue of Young Parents.....(their presentation is a bit messy but u can get all info u want)

For convenience, u may want to put both kids in Julia Gabriel but if u want a good phonics system learning, "Growing Up Gifted"(http://www.gugifted.com/) for yr 2-year old may be good as she does not need serious schooling yet.

Hope this helps guide yr choice a little.

My kids was at Etonhouse in Newton, and had the worst experience ever, so my advice was, do not register ur kids there, as they are popular and expensive due to the environment and with expats teacher, so they treat the kids well if they are rich, and depant on what car they drive, what branded clothes they wear makes a different, not fair!!! And the meal they provided was so lousy even we pay so much. So think twice before u enroll, dun let the out look cheat.

Hi,

You can try looking for local preschool as well as the expat preschool The local preschool does offer good education. However,I do advice you to pop by and observe how teachers teach the children without even saying that you want to register. Cos if you pop by and say u want to register your child, they will 'pretend'. Secondly, check out the environment and hygiene of centre.

Pre-school

Don't forget about International Community School...the only Christian International School in town, with a new pre-school class for 3-yr olds, starting in August. They have an ad on this expat site, too. But as they've outgrown the current property (at 514 Kampong Bahru Rd), ICS is moving to a larger campus near Clementi MRT. This summer they'll completely renovate the newly acquired property, next door to the Jin Tai Secondary School on Jubilee Road...and be ready for the children mid August. It's not real close to the Orchard area, but nothing is very far away in Singapore. If you had cancer would you go to the closest doctor, or the best? Call or go by the school this week, and pick up an application, before classes fill up. Florence or Peter...or any of the friendly staff, will be happy to give you more details. ICS has a loving, family friendly environment, which is excellent for learning. They also take students with little or no English language ability. When is the 2 yr old's birthday?...may be eligible sooner than you think, too...just ask. :D
