Views of indian expats in singapore needed urgently

Post by galgal8484 » Fri, 10 Apr 2009 11:39 am

Hi everyone. I am a journalist from Tamil Murasu, the tamil Newspaper. I am sure u are all aware of the mass food poisoning in Indian Rojak recently. We are doing a small survey.

What was the first impression you had when you heard of the term "Indian Rojak"? Please feel free to write in your views.

Thank you.

Where is the survey?

Why would there be mass poisoning "IN" Indian Rojak? Don't you mean "BY" Indian Rojak? Is food poisoning different because of what the stall was selling?

While not an Indian myself (only married to one), I guess anybody who didn't know some Malay would wonder what the food was in the first place if they had they just arrived and read it in the newspapers seeing the the word is a Malay/Indonesian word meaning mixture.

I have a neutral opinion - while hygiene needs to be practised everywhere - its unfortunate that it happened at one of the more popular rojak stalls in that area (I wouldnt know of the popularity - quoting the newspapers). I notice that, worldwide, the lawmakers, health boards, security agencies etc.. all wake up only when there is a disaster or accident and then put rigorous control mechanisms in place. Thats sad.
My sympathies to the families of the 2 people who died - they sacrificed thier poor souls to caution others to be more careful.
