High Floor = More expensive?

Post by brendanrtw » Thu, 09 Apr 2009 4:35 pm

They say there are no stupid questions, but this might be! .....

Is it more expensive for a higher floor in a condo?

Why?

Generally, yes!

away from the noise
better few
fewer pests
might be an auspicious floor number

there's more I can't think of them just now...

YEP RNT hit the nail on the head...in ours it's almost astronomical (either as a purchaser or a renter).

PS, I think RNT may have meant "view", not "few"?? Although some condos do get fewer apartments per floor as you move up.

PPS..in some places, pests can include neighbours, so be wary of them also!

Yes, I meant view. Phew! Been up since 3:30 and a little fuzzy. The downside can be long waits for the lifts -- doesn't seem like a big deal but when you have to do it several times a day....

It also applies to hills and mountains, The higher you go the more expensive it gets. There is less chance of flooding and its cooler the higher you go.

The ground floor is generally seen as the garbage bin for all the fag butts from above.

About flooding, we had a ground floor unit, and while on holiday the main sewage got blocked, everyone's sewage from above poured out of the WC pan and plug holes. It took an estimated 4 days before someone noticed the smell, it was not pleasant scraping 6 inches of "gunk" out of the house. It never smelt the same after that, and neither did I.

That alone makes it worthwhile paying for the higher floors.
