GST Registration - Security Deposit

Post by ArevA » Fri, 03 Apr 2009 11:32 am

Hi,
I am new here... Greetings everybody!

I applied for a GST registration for my new incorporated company in Singapore. Registration was voluntarily (below 1 mln per first year)... I am an importer so I thought I’ll apply voluntarily. Anyway a few days later I received a letter from an officer with 12 questions, which i kindly answered and attached all corresponding dox. 1 week later received another letter asking for a security deposit 20K for 1 year in order to allow me to register for GST.
Has anyone come across this issue? Is there any way around? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks

You might ask him. Could also mean that because you have a nominee director (and not yourself) that a deposit is warranted.
