Tailored Suits

Post by jon » Tue, 05 Oct 2004 9:17 pm

Hello all,

Where is the best place to buy a tailored suit in SG - budget is around $500 - heard that can get something pretty special here.... (couldn't even get a tailored shirt in UK :) )

Ta

Hi Jon,

I have been using Mayers at Orchard Towers, 3rd Floor. Great Cut, good prices and service. They do tailored shirts too.

:D

There are many tailors in Far East Plaza. I use Christian Armani's (ask for Dave & tell him I sent you). However, just heard that the best place in SE Asia for getting tailored apparel is Thailand...good luck...

Jon, have you had the suit made yet? Where? How did it turn out?

Hi Jon, if you haven't made your suit, here's a place that makes them for less than $500.

Spring Checker
Blk 1004, #05-04, Toa Payoh North, S(318995)
63567418 mabroon@singnet.com.sg (Look for Mr. Pha, he's the boss)

Apparently, the company is a wholesaler to departmental stores in Taiwan/Japan(?). If you aren't too tall, getting a suit off the rack there will cost you a lot less than having it custom made for you. He's got a wide variety of fabrics and cost at least 30-40% less than what you'd be paying for at Far East /Peninsula/Lucky Plaza.....it's the location, mate! Btw, Spring checker's located in a factory so don't be shocked by its surroundings. The range & service is every inch as good if not better than those sleek-talkers in Far East Plaza  and did I mention that the prices are fixed?

Do you mean tall by Singaporean standards? I guess that more than 1,85 m does not qualify...
