Initial expenses

Post by Shona » Fri, 20 Mar 2009 3:59 pm

I plan to rent in Singapore soon. Quick question, how do things work there when you first rent a house?

Do you pay an agents fee and also a bond? If yes, how many months bond is normal?

So if, for example, I rent somewhere for $5k a month, what will i be looking at paying out in order to move in?

Hi Shona - this question has been asked before quite a number of times. I suggest you use the search function of the forum for "agent fee" as there are many hints and tips about the best way to organise that. Also, try "bond" - from memory it's usually one month - not entirely sure though. We don't have any real property rental legislation here - it's all private contract, so therefore it's best to do some searches and find out.

HTH, mr. P
