Where to buy Air Mattress?

Post by MamaCass » Wed, 18 Mar 2009 8:10 pm

Can anyone tell me if you can purchase an Aerobed type air mattress in SG? The type you plug into the wall and it inflates it's self. Thanks I don't want hubby sleeping on the floor until shipment arrives!

Its not the brand you mentioned, but we found 'blow up' camp mattresses at Giant. Have you tried any of the camping shops?

Thanks, I know Giant. I didn't think about camping stores, thanks for the heads up.

Takashimaya on Orchard in the sports department - we bought ours there - coleman brand. They have all the different mattress sizes - single, double, queen, king.

I feel the Giant would be the cheaper of the two options mentioned here.

Thank you both for your input. I think since I won't be able to find the type that self-inflates via electricity, maybe I'll just buy one in the U.S. with a battery operated pump and send with our airshipment.

Thanks again for your help!

Check out carre four, they have an out door section which has a couple of very good air beds (slept on 1 for 3 weeks while my stuff arrived) you can get a package there that has the air bed with an electric pump to save some work

Carefour is best place to get

Post by cburtch » Thu, 09 Dec 2010 7:07 pm

I looked all around at the places suggested in the post and for what I needed Carefour was the best deal for the best quality.

Takashimaya does have in the sporting goods section near the bicycles, but a queen size Coleman was $50-60 and the pup (sold separately) was $30.

The one I got at Carefour has a built in pump and bag, has a micro-suede top that is a bit nicer to sleep on and is twice as thick as the Coleman. It doesn't make it twice as comfortable, but it does make it higher so your guests are up off the floor. At S$69.95 I thought it was a steal.

Giant in Vivocity (Harbourfront MRT)

Post by starzmarie » Wed, 19 Dec 2012 9:44 am

I wanted to update this forum as my husband and I recently used these posts for guidance...

Based on the advice we saw on this forum, we originally tried to find an air mattress in Giant at Suntec City (Carrefour has shut down and left Singapore altogether I believe), but we were told that they didn't stock any. So in the end we bought the Coleman camping air mattress from Takishimaya (double mattress and battery operated air pump for S$120).

However, within a week the mattress had died on us (and no we weren't on it at the time!). The folks at Takishimaya fixed it for us; we originally asked for a full refund and they chose to ignore this and fix it instead (it's only when I demanded the money back did they give us a credit note - something that's all too common in Asia; no one wants to give your money back).

Anyway, with that mattress out of the window, we thought about trying the Giant in Vivocity, which coincidentally sells a variety of air mattress brands. We settled on two single Bestway Comfort Quest mattresses (S$59 for 2, with inbuilt air pump), which have outlived the Coleman mattress and are much more durable and made out of thicker material. In comparison, the material used for the Coleman mattress is probably just thicker than what you might expect to see in a lilo!

(As an aside, Coleman have a cheaper/diffusion line, also sold at Takishimaya, called Coleman Go or something to that effect. I wouldn't even bother with this given my experience, but who knows, maybe you'll be fine...)

If you do want a foldable mattress, Seahorse sells one (probably north of S$100-150), and I'm sure Ikea does too. These are more expensive options compared to the air mattress route but I guess it will last longer.

I think that for $150, this is a great option. An air mattress can get pretty uncomfortable.

Seahorse Mattress

Post by starzmarie » Wed, 19 Dec 2012 4:44 pm

Hi Cath C,

On second thought, I think I may have confused things. I saw a foldable single mattress in Suntec (not Seahorse brand, and not in Giant) for around S$200, but I wasn't able to verify the price of the Seahorse one.

Seahorse do have an online site (http://www.seahorse.com.hk/singapore/media_en/main.htm) but there aren't any prices listed as far as I can see...

Thanks!
