expat in-home child care

Post by sherryoung » Wed, 18 Mar 2009 2:23 am

Hi there,

I'm an American mother visiting with my 5 year old son next fall for approx. 10-12 weeks. We are staying with a friend in the Braddell Hill area.

It's been quite difficult trying to find information about appropriate child care available for short term that doesn't cost thousands of dollars. (especially as I'm doing this myself from the States...my single friend in Singapore has been no help).

It occurred to me that perhaps an expat stay at home mom might take some kids in at her house, which is very common here. I am very flexible...able to to do full day, half day, just a few days/week, flexible hours. I just have to have 24 hours/week to myself to do some work and study. My son has been in daycare for years already, so is very sociable.

I'll post again closer to the fall, but I wanted to write now to see if this is even done. if not, perhaps someone could steer me to specific facilities that they like in the Bishon/Toa Payoh area.

thanks for any advice
