dog relocation
We will be relocating to Singapore from Shanghai with 2 small dogs soon. I would appreciate it if you could recommend a good dog relocation company I could use. I know that I can contact companies like Petmovers Singapore to handle everything for me, I'm however worried about their credibility and that of their Shanghai counterpart.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Did DIY to move dog from SH to SG.
Bit of running around and some last minute drama, but otherwise successful.
Have you searched the shanghaiexpat site?
Pet Relocation companies have to generate profits to stay in business.
With the rates they charge, seems that they must be doing well.
Did see some Pet Relo firms staff every day at the quarantine station walking clients' dogs, so it looks like some provide full service.

Hi Maneo,
I agree that they petmovers in Shanghai do love creating drama. Having a lot of problems with them. 1. charges are unclear and varies from mail to mail.
2. information provided are misleading and inaccurate
Did you apply for export license yourself? Do share. Thanks.

I did everything myself except drive to the airport and fly the plane.
Check with the airline(s) for transport details.
Some airlines refuse to carry some breeds.
They may also have size requirements for the carrier, which should be IATA approved.
Note: you can buy one at the government approved clinic if you didn't keep the one you brought your pet in (or if you acquired the pet in CN).
Shipping fee was 100 RMB/kg (the carrier was half the total weight).
Had to go to another window at check-in to pay for the dog's "ticket" (excess baggage charge).
After that, someone came out to take the carrier in.
Check in was very efficient - all done within 5-10 minutes.
Best to go with direct flights, especially now that it's approaching summer.
Take-offs, landings and ground time would be most stressful.
The export license/health certificate must be arranged within 7 or so days before your flight out.
Make sure your dog is registered & has proof of rabies shots.
Took dog to the officially sanctioned vet.
At the time, the government approved clinic was SHENPU Pet Clinic (申普宠物诊所) on Zhaojiabang Lu.
Made copies of the required documents (passport, visa, dog's registration, rabies shots, etc.) at a print shop nearby, but would have been easier if I had done this in advance.
The clinic tried to give the dog another rabies shot, because they would not acknowledge the registration from out-of-town (Luodian).
However, since there's supposed to be a 30 day waiting period after a rabies shot, I could not wait.
This is where the drama ensued.
Had a long discussion with the staff to get them to accept the rabies shot from out-of-town.
Argued that since the dog was going to get another one upon landing in SG (followed by a 30 day quarantine) that there was no need to subject him to another rabies shot just before leaving.
After a phone call when I insisted on speaking to the next level supervisor, they gave in.
They did collect quite a few fees for implanting a microchip and for expediting the process.
I was able to pick up the license the next day and faxed it to the airline (SQ).
Other than the drama regarding the validity of the dog's registration and rabies shot record, this was a fairly easy process.
There are many threads and links on this site on the procedure for importing dogs into SG, so I won't cover that here, other than to say that the staff at the Sembawang quarantine station were very helpful.
Suggest you check there for current info.
I shipped my dog a year-and-a-half ago - things can change quickly in SH.
After I had done everything myself I discovered that there were phone numbers (for English speakers) that you could call for instructions.
