Balcony plants and mozzies

Post by Callalily » Thu, 12 Mar 2009 12:59 pm

Hello. I just bought some plants for my teeny-weeny balcony. Really pleased :D :D :D . I wanted to get some mosquito spray from the nursery where I bought them but was told I should just spray with baygon. Is that correct? What do you guys use? We live on the sixth floor so a bit far to make the most of the weekly fumigation that occurs downstairs.

Merci

Lily - yeh Baygon make a mozzie spray which is waterbased.

The BIG thing to remember about your new plants and mozzies is to ensure that if you have drip dishes underneath the pots, PLEASE PLEASE ensure you empty them VERY regularly. The little buggers love breeding places like that. Just spraying won't help if you have stagnant water.

Good luck with your new plants!

You should really buy some BTI granules or briquets if you want to be safe rather than sorry. Put them in the saucers/drip dishes. This will kill the larva after they hatch from the eggs before they become adult mozzies.
