PEP holder to start a company

Post by MickD » Thu, 05 Mar 2009 5:37 pm

Hi

Can anyone help to answer this: I have a PEP and it's running out soon as I have been traveling overseas for various reasons. I was told either I can appeal for for extension for another 3 months or start my own company? Is that true? I was told starting your own business would mean you are effectively employed. If so, would i start as a sole proprietor or private ltd?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm in a very similar situation and would also like to understand this better. I was told by an MoM officer last week that the PEP is not valid to start my own company, I would need to get an EntrePass instead (no matter whether it is for a Sole Proprietorship or Pte Ltd). Can somebody confirm this?

Btw, they didn't mention anything about that 3 month extension. Is that an extension of the maximum 6-month unemployment period?

Thanks!!!

yes you can get an entrepass but this will be based on your qualification and kind of business.Entrepass is considered an employment pass .
you can check the mom website for the eligibility and requirements.
