First idea: don't go just yet. It's still monsoon season (as you may have noticed here in Singapore as well!), so most resorts are closed, boats are few, and waves are choppy.
Best way to get there is to fly on Berjaya Air, but the poor flight timings eat up most a day, so this is not really an option for a two-day weekend. Only other way is go to Mersing by bus/car (does Transnasional still have 'em direct from Sing?) and then take the ferry over.

hi thanks. In fact ,after looking through the various websites, I felt that going to Redang would be a better choice ..I am looking for a very short getaway .Perhaps I might just hop over to Bintan instead.
Anyways, do give me feedbacks about Redang also. TIA !

Redang is even nicer than Tioman, but it's even further away -- it's a 10+ hour drive, an all-night train or an expensive and badly timed Berjaya flight to get there. And the monsoon situation is the same this time of year.
Bintan is certainly the easiest option from Singapore. Batam also has a few decent resorts, and Desaru can be dirt cheap.

Bintan really doesnt compare to Redang or Tioman. Beach/Sea in Bintan is similar to Sentosa, are the resorts are very highly priced. We usually fly to Tioman and stay at Berjaya hotel. Just as good as Bintan hotels but clean beach and sea, and much cheaper. Redang is better still but airport is closed right now
