New to Singapore and expecting

Post by corcaigh » Mon, 02 Mar 2009 11:37 am

Hi, I have just moved to Singapore with my husband (3 weeks ago) and found out over the weekend that we are expecting. We are delighted with the news but I feel lost as I don’t know how the system works here.
My GP recommended NUH and Dr Mary Rauff, but I can’t get an appointment with her, can anyone recommend someone else at NUH? Does anyone know anything about Dr YC Wong or Prof Arijit Biswas who also practice at NUH?
Thanks. :???:

Hi, Dr Mary Rauff is very good, although she may sometimes be quite conventional in terms of her views. But I heard Prof Arijit Biswas is good too. Very caring and somewhat stern. And he heads the maternal and fetal medicine department. You can probably give him a try.

are you fixed on NUH? I delivered at Thompson (with Dr P Tseng who was FANTASTIC) and friends at Mt Elizabeth and we are loved our experience...?

Ya, fixed on NUH. I got sick two years ago which may lead to complications for me or bb so I have been told that NUH is probably best.

Hi,
I would wait for Prof Rauf. Sometimes there is a cancellation and you can just take the vacant spot. I made an appointment in october for december, but was called and got an earlier date beginning of november. She is very good!!!

Hi There,

I have a 7 week old daughter and I delivered her at NUH. My consultant was Dr TM Chua. She is a more mature woman so been doing this for years and you can tell as she is so relaxed and made me feel so comfortable with everything and made me feel comfortable. Her and her midwifes where amazing during my labour.

Where are you from??? If you want to met up and chat let me know. I've been here 9 months now and I know how hard it can be when your first here and dont know anyone.

K
