Summer Day Camp for 9 year old boy

Post by NYCJoe » Mon, 02 Mar 2009 10:38 am

Hi, We're moving from NYC at Easter time. I am trying to find out if there is anything in Singapore during July / early August like a summer sports day camp for my 9 year old son. He loves tennis, golf and sailing among many other things. Thanks.

There are a couple of sports camps at Turf City - here is one:

I.S.A run a soccer camp every week of the summer holidays, let me know if you need info.
You can pay by the day or by the week.
They get to learn soccer, have fun, and get fed!

Thanks for the information. Yes, I'd love to get contact information for I.S.A. What does I.S.A. stand for? Also, I googled Turf City. It sounds like a huge mall? I guess there's lot of sports things there? Any other suggestions are welcomed. My son also said he's interested in doing fencing too. Any thoughts? Thanks.

International Soccer Academy.
They have great qualified coaches, make it fun for the kids and generally have a ball.
Contact Yazi on +6582282284
or check out their website
www.isa.com.sg
My son has been playing for them for 2 years and loves it.

NYCJoe - I suppose Turf City is like a big mall - but more like a warehouse space. It's not like anything you'd find in NYC - but within the grounds there are sports facilities - martial arts, soccer, tennis, horseback riding, rugby, assult course...etc. Some friends children do the Centaurus sports (10 year olds) and love it. I've never heard of anyone fencing but doesn't mean it's not here :)

There definitely is fencing here. At Balmoral Plaza and someplace else.

NYCJoe, if you don't mind -- do you absolutely have to move your 9 year old Easter time? Do you know yet what school they'll be attending?

Thank you again for all the information. My son was accepted to UWC East campus. My husband moved over last November. The original plan was to finish out the school year here in NYC. But it's been really hard on all of us being apart for so long so we're trying to move over sooner.

Well, I can totally understand that. When does the new school year start up at UWC? No way to put off your move so you can have summer at home? Even in summer camp it'll be fairly lonely here for your son, so many people travel over the summer and many still go home for the entire time. You're in a rough spot I know, I've been there. I would do everything I could to make your son's life easier through the move. Good Luck & Welcome.

Things to do in the summer

Post by Debbie007 » Thu, 05 Mar 2009 2:23 am

We are also moving to Singapore in beginning of July and I have a 7 year old son. I have also been wondering what there is to do for him before he starts school. If you want to get together with our two boys any day, then that would be great. I have discovered that the Canadian Int'l School offers good programs for kids during the summer. The library also has reading and crafts. There are various Family Centres that offer things throughout the summer. There is also a place called Spartacus which is a camp for kids. Once you start searching, you'll find quite a bit. But again, I'm looking for other moms with kids to get together with in July and August. Let me know.

Summer Camps

Check out this great website http://www.childcarelink.gov.sg
It's a very good resource for all round kids info.
Also the Australian Club has coffee mornings in the summer and there are plenty of kids that come along with the moms. I'm sure the other clubs must have the same sort of thing.

Hi Debbie007,
Thank you for all of your information and yes, we'd love to get together once in Singapore. Are you able to PM yet on this site? I've not yet done enough posts to have that ability. Otherwise, we'll get our information to you another way.
