Maternity Clothes - Where to buy?

Post by excited123 » Thu, 26 Feb 2009 7:50 pm

Hi girls,

The excited one is back... now with the little one showing (its 4 months you know... and I'm not that petite any more :-(

So anyway, I've been to Marina Square an all that and like checked out all the shops fr pregnant women... but am not really excited with the choice and the price. You know how it is... every woman has her style that complements her personality... and all the clothes there are so, like, not unique or exciting.

I was wondering where I should go shop for some good maternity wear. Simple but good stuff... especially that I can wear to the office (pants and formal shirts?). Moreover, I'd really like to not spend a bomb on it as its only for the next 4-5 months you know.

Thanks and congrats to all the other mothers-to-be. Its a great feeling for me and I hope you girls are also relishing it as well.

Higs and Kisses

Have you tried Zara Maternity? Also, don't necessarily look for just maternity - for more casual clothes check out M'phosis - they have fantastic jersey separates that are not too expensive and can be tossed without feeling too guilty. You can also try some off-price retailers FOS (Anchorpoint Mall, LeMeridien shopping center on Orchard) - they sometimes have maternity tops/bottoms. But be mindful - you'll probably be wearing your maternity stuff a while longer after the baby comes - the baby may be out but the padding may take a little longer to come off :D

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I have no advice to offer as I purchased all my maternity clothes in the US. 8-) Though, I think there are a couple shops in Vivo City that are decent.

I bought a great pair of maternity jeans in Top Shop and a pair of cargo pants in Dorothy Perkins, definitly my best maternity purchases, they just dont look Maternity at all. Mphosis was great for my stretchy tops, and a couple of pairs of low hip shorts that sat under the bump. remember to consider that you will be wearing them in your "going down" phase too after the birth,
Have a Happy pregnancy!

Are you interested in getting 2nd hand clothes? I have very very gently used (some of them only once/twice) maternity clothes I don't need and I don't know what to do with them. I don't want just to throw them away, because they don't look bad at all....

My clothes are from mainly from Noppies (European brand). Size 38

I'm due any day now, and I'm very happy to share what I've discovered in the past few months:

Mothers en vogue: located on Orchard, in Delfi Orchard building. I have quiet a few items from there, am very pleased with them:

Egg Maternity- in Vivocity. Not cheap, but good quality, and the sizes were a better fit for me than local ones.

Spring maternity- something about their sizing didn't work for me, but maybe it will for you.

Motherswork- they have a maternity wear shop in Tanglin mall. Again, not the cheapest- but the size and style worked for me.

Thyme Maternity- you can find them in department stores, like Takashimaya. I have a couple of their shirts that I wear all the time.

Somebody already suggested it- Zara maternity, but they don't actually have a big variety. Same goes for Dorothy Perkins and Top Shop- they all have usually just one stand with maternity clothing, but you should check it out.

Good luck![/url]

Apparently, there's also a place where you can rent maternity clothes. Anyone knows where that is?

Yes, it's called maternity exchange at Marina Square.

You can also buy, not only rent, and one of the good things about them is the swimming suits line they sell.
