Thieving Hanio Hotel warning!!

Post by dysonor » Wed, 25 Feb 2009 12:33 am

I thought it would be good to start a shame file on bad hotels so that we can avoid the heart aches. I'm not just talking about bad service.. Here's a recent experience that compels me to start this thread..

I need to warn everyone about vietnam, my sisters, and mum just came back from Hanoi, and its a scam!!!! I am half viet, and travel most of vietnam fine, but Hanoi is not safe! The tour company they used (happy tours) was great, up till Hanoi where an affiliated company takes over, which is where the trouble started. The Hanoi tours try to skimmed on everything (we know the game all to well) and generally were dodgy, but it’s not what i really wanted to warn everyone about.

DO NOT STAY AT THE BAO KHANH HOTEL!!!!

My mum, sister, and friend put their valuables at reception after reading the house rules... only to have reception steal my sister's phone, out of a back pack with 3 locks on it!!

They tried to fob off as “Perhaps you left it somewhere and overlooked it”

We had US$s taken from our room safe. They came and investigate but of course we knew who it was and as it was taken the night before we left they thought we would not notice it until it was too late.

What I felt was worst was the taxi drivers try to rip you off for a 10 minute ride $47 Singapore. So we walked or never used a taxi or cycle.

Outside Hanoi it was better.

That's exactly it, that's what happened to our girls. They bet on you finding out to late. They got a rude shock, the girls in our family are fiesty... they kicked the LOUDEST stink, and told EVERYONE in the hotel.. and everyone who cared to listen. We need to stick together to stamp this sh*t out, the vietnamese government needs to be crack down on this to make it safe for us to be there if they want our money!

Ha ha, i also posted a warning on Hanoi taxi drivers and other travel tips to vietnam in flowerpod forum, which i should have posted here..
