Hi,
I am wondering if you would pay to take your kids to somewhere to listen to stories in Mandarin and why/why not? How much would you be willing to pay?
I am helping a business from TW to consider expansion here and am wondering if the market exists. It would be similar to Julia & Gabriel/Lorna Whiston but not exactly the same. Basically kids will listen to stories in Mandarin in a setup like a mini-theater but they can participate.
Any thoughts/comments are welcomed.
BTW the target segment is age 2 to 8
Many thanks

My daughter (British) is 7 and has been learning Mandarin for 2 years here in Singapore. I can't speak for all kids of course but more than anything she loves songs in Mandarin. If you were to do kids Mandarin Kareoke then she would definitely be interested, however storytelling would not be her interest.
Good Luck with your venture!

I think I have taken my son to that story place in Taipei when we lived there 2.5 years ago, I would take him there again, esp now that he likes listening to stories. I only took him once as we then moved away. I guess it depends if he would like it now.
I remember the place to be quite well set up with props (like a big fake tree but a well done tree in one of the story rooms).

Hi efang, I'm aware that all preschool/kindi/playcenters in Singapore have both English and Mandarin teachers so kids can learn both languages and also have stories read to them (in 2 languages). Have a look through their websites to find out more.
Cheers
Tex.

hi
My kids are both learning mandarin and we are always loking at ways to get them to love the language and not just learn the language. My husband amd I are both Indian and do not speak mandarin.
If your program is aimed at teaching kids the kanguage in a fun way, then I will be interested and am sure many other parents would be too.
Earlier reader mentioned that kindies here offer mandarin, yes they do, but not all porgrams run by schools and pre-shools help kids develop a love for the language.
