Teaching career in Singapore....

Post by ANCOLL » Wed, 18 Feb 2009 12:52 am

Dear expatriates,
I would like to ask and also give information about teaching career in Singapore. Once I get update, I will add it in this posting

For being teacher in Singapore, you can apply for public school or private school, as far as I know
There are 90% public school found, and the rest are private school i.e. International School.
You can apply for teaching in public school in here
http://www.moe.gov.sg/careers/teach/

for the location of private schools, this link may helps

(credited to Callalily)

Some says you will get less salary in public school compared with international school, but still need more information for this.

Recently, my contract will finish in May09 and I will move to Singapore and start looking for this job.

I would like to hear from someone to give opinion or information especially for the one who once sought this job and already got it now.
I've already PM'ed Jonah in this thread
http://www.singaporeexpats.com/forum/su ... f0ff6fa6c7
and still waiting for his opinion.

May this discussion continues..

That's nice Ancoll. I'll add Callalily's link as well even though the information on that site has been readily available on my links page below as well as a wealth of other information for a long time. This site here also has a wealth of information on the main page of the site also. Use the Map function of this site to find out what condo's or housing developments, bus stops/terminals, mrt stations are closest to your potential school in order to find out what might be the ideal compromise between travel and job and living locations. Good luck on your quest but please make sure you have something secured before you make the move. Or at least make a exploratory trip here prior to committing to the actual signing on the dotted line. The old packages are being revised almost daily so most of what was written here in the past can only be used as a very rough guideline.
