Stretchmarks: Pls help...

Post by CharlotteKent » Wed, 04 Feb 2009 7:21 pm

I am pregnant and want to know if anyone has had any luck with skin care for stopping stretchmarks? I have heard that some are not safe to use and can harm my baby but I am so confused by which ones are ok and actually work to prevent stretchmarks, as I happily grow into my 9 month bump!

Had the same concern especially as my mum had really bad ones. I used Palmers cocoa butter every morning and night from about 20 weeks onwards and didn't get any at all. May just have been a coincidence but it's worth a go??

I use Clarins Huile Tonic. It's a body oil, works for me. But it's hard to say whether the lack of stretchmarks so far is the result of my expensive oil, or just good luck.

Don't forget to drink lots of water. I read that stretchmarks are due to deep tissues which aren't reached by any oil or cream you rub on. drinking lots of water and eating a healthy diet promotes elasticity of this deeper layer.

Whether or not you get stretch marks is totally genetic. Lotions, creams, or oils don't really matter, if your mother had stretch marks then you will have a high chance of getting them as well. I used all types of lotions and creams and still had them, so just enjoy being pregnant and don't worry about all that other stuff. Good luck!
