Hmm.. I'm not sure of the agency my friend book on... But I know is all free and easy... I have the email for the KK side though. So if you interested, perhaps can pm me, so I can give you the email address, and you can check with them. Also, they are situated at Malaysia itself. So I'm not sure if you still wants it. Anyway, the itinerary as per below:

Day 1:Arrival to KK – Optional tours/free at leisure – overnight @ KK Hotel

Day 2: Free at leisure (Recommended daytrip tour: Padas White Water Rafting) – overnight @ KK Hotel

Day 3: 2D1N Mt. Climbing Via Ferrata – Overnight @ Pendant Hut

Day 4: Low’s Peak Circuit/Walk The Torq activity – Descend – Back to KK – Overnight @ KK Hotel

Day 5: Optional tours (e.g. Island excursions) – free at leisure – flight departure back

Hey agnee 88 and dk80,
I'm interested to climb the mount kinabalu in Jun 09. I'll be reaching KK on 13 Jun in the afternoon. I have a travel mate with me but she is not interested to climb. I'm very interested to climb so I'm looking for partners as well. So is it possible to climb the mountain on 14 Jun or 15 Jun as I need to be in sandakan by 17 Jun? I called SSL to ask about the availability of rooms. They told me that only left the 3D2N package and costs about rm 571 for Malaysians and I'm not sure about the price for Non-Malaysians. The package only include the accomodation at Kinabalu Park and Laban Rata.

Let me know whats the plan.

From what I know, usually agency quote u ONLY the rate which you will be in KK. But the rates for the climbing activities + stay over there is another package... Depending on the route you taking, the price may differs too...

I am interested for my second climbed. Just to clarify, you don't need special and expensive shoes to climb. For the local, they always wear this shoe called "Adidas Kampung" that cost less than RM10 and not slipery.when you are coming down, you can change to sandal that can give you good grip. I did it and safe. To avoid cramp, you bring along some rehydrated salt, glucose and energy bars with you. You may need some cream to relax muscle too. Along the trail, you will see water tank for you to fill up your water bottle.

You need a guide for every 8 person, and you can pay some money to the guide to help you carrying your bag. I took my own sweet time to climb up except coming down as i rush for the bus to took me out. I managed to enjoy the view even though bad weather (-10 degree at the peak). Hot spring is recommended after the climb.

I dont mind to go back to KK again if time allowing me. I can be the lousy tour guide if i still remember the places as i stayed there for few years.
