Tuxedo advice

Post by knutty » Thu, 29 Jan 2009 8:14 pm

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone can offer any advice on where to either purchase or rent a tuxedo? My husband needs one for this coming Saturday, yes that's right 2 days time! Otherwise he probably would have looked into having one made.

Any suggestions would be greatly apprecaited!

Thanks!

Okay, well after a bit more research I found that M&S (Centrepoint) usually sell them at the end of the year, and at the moment they've got some on sale, bonus! So we went down there tonight and picked one up, thought it might be useful to let others know, they didn't have many sizes left though so it was pot luck that we found one that fitted!

Cheers!

Way to go boog! That exactly what the poster was asking for. Where to rent a tuxedo. You should take the time to read the posts instead of just trying to up your post count. "Where to" is a lot different than "whether to"

knutty, good for you.

I had a similar problem as September was my 25th anniversary and I wanted to wear a tux. So instead of buying or renting one, I just lost 26kg in 5.5 months before Sept. and there you go. I wore my wedding tux! And it fit better this time than the first time!

What kinds of sale prices was M&S having for a tux though? Just being nosey as there might be some impulse buyers here who would jump for one if the price was right.

So a tux from the 70s? I'm curious to see the collar and how flammable it is

Seriously - both are amazing feats (the marriage & the weight loss)!!

Another option is to rent formal wear from the wedding shops. I am sure a few aroung Tanjong Pagar will let you rent one for a week/day?

Alternatively, there is a shop along Balestier (sorry forgot the name but it's next to the 7-11 along the main road) They rent out Tux and they have sizes to fit the "large" sizes. it's a must to visit tho... there are loads of 70s and 80s fashion magazines in there for laugh! My 6-feet husband managed to find a morning suit in there (and they had to taper the leg lenght too!)

Good Luck.

Thanks everyone for the info, and well done for the huge weight loss, very impressive!

They didn't have many sizes left but to give you a rough idea the Jacket should have been $600 and we bought it for $250 and the trousers were $350 down to $150. I know it still isn't the cheapest but I was pretty impressed with that reduction! Hopefully my husband will be still wearing his 25 years later too!
