Post by rafbird » Thu, 29 Jan 2009 4:36 pm

Hi

We are Emma And steve,DINKs, 28, from the UK, looking to meet other brits or westerners for socials and sports. Have been here 6 months ,nows the time to relax a bit and start meeting some buddies.
We love BBQs and drinking, and fun sports and activities (ex RAF)

hope to hear from like minded professionals or girl friends/wives that want to meet for shopping trips, and coffees also.

Cheers, Emma

Hi Emma

My name is Charlotte and I have just moved out here (end Dec) with my boyfriend who is also called Steve. I have just turned 30 (ouch) and he is 28.(no kids) We have moved over here for his job for 2 years and I am currently searching for one. We're finding it quite hard to meet people people our age out here so it would be great to all meet up for a drink if you fancied it?
We live on Farrer road, quite near Holland Village.

Let me know

cheers

Charlie

Emma, Charlotte, and the two Steves - plently of people to meet here if you want to go with expats. A few suggestions: the WNDC and FNDC threads here have regular get-togethers; there's also a trivia night every Tuesday, and plenty of other social offerings - just keep your eyes peeled.

Another suggestion is to subscribe to timeout Singapore (google will be your friend) and you get a weekly email of events, gatherings, etc.

Some other suggestions include joining a business association (seeing you don't need to worry about bub-sitters) - AustCham is excellent; the American Chamber is also good (from what we've experienced).

In short, just keep looking around the forum here and you're bound to meet people pretty smartly!

Hi there. We have joined the British Association and they have pub nights, coffee mornings etc etc.

And we get to meet people that understand what we missing from the UK... silly thing slike Waitrose , Mr Ocado etc etc.

Enjoy your stay.

Hi Zeenit

Unfortunately as I am new to this I'm not allowed to PM yet. You're right - I was thinking of the British Club. If you could send me an e-mail with the details that would be great.

Thanks for your help, really grateful

New to Singapore (couple aged 26)

Post by lottielane » Thu, 05 Feb 2009 11:11 pm

Hi there,

We arrived in Singapore about 2 weeks ago now and would like to meet some expats of a similar age. We saw your original post Emma and Steve and Charlotte and Steve. We are Rob and Charlotte Cook from the UK. Rob works in sports out here and I am a designer with a business in the UK and about to set it up in Singapore too. Hopefully! If you would like to meet up for dinner, drinks etc or tea/coffee/shopping in the day time then I am free most days.

Have you guys managed to meet up? We're a couple in our 20s too, been here almost 2 years now and we don't come across Brit couples very often! All our mates are either single/married! :) Let us know if you guys are keen to meet up for drinks sometime.
