With some discussion off the main board, this thread has been reinstated by Plavt and twista88's original post has also been replaced by me even though he deleted it. (easy to do as I had quoted it in my original reply). As far as the rest of the crap..... as long as it stay in this sandbox I don't care. I have also changed the title to something a wee bit less offensive.

Would really appreciate if you could remove my whole post, the content is still offensive although the title isn't.

Yesterday I had posted an apology on the forum after thinking about what some of the expats had to say about my post, they made some good points to be considered.

pardon me for having to reply as a clone, as apparently Plavt feels calling him a shit stirrer is a "blatant insult" that warrants account deactivation.

and twista88, i thought your original post was rather balanced if emotional. which is understandable considering what you had to put up with. it's no more offensive than some of the sweeping generalisations certain members seem to have the liberty to make.

has anyone in this spin off thread added anything of substance at all? right from the beginning, this was an attempt by Plavt to start a lynch mob. all i have done is to defend the poor boy who is so in awe of the histrionics of an opportunistic bunch.

why would i see this as a pat on my back? it really doesn't mean that much to me. however, it did amuse me no end to see how hypocritical certain members are. they will tolerate and even initiate insults as long as it is directed at locals. they will lambast the local political system while engaging in the same tactics. it goes beyond censorship or spinning, it is practically rewriting events and denying any event that puts them in a bad light.

is "shit stirrer" an insult? more so than "stupid boy Pike"? i would think the former is a rather accurate description given the sequence of events. and a common, if un-PC, term. besides, Plavt was quite happy to sit back and watch the unfolding drama (notice the popcorn emoticon?) until he realised he was going to be called out.

this whole exercise has been nothing but a display of hypocrisy and abuse of authority by a few very insecure people. if you can't take it, don't dish it out.

so, i throw the question back at you SE. what now? are you going to sweep the indiscretions of a fellow moderator under the rug? brush it off with "we're only human"? just like always?

Further, deactivating Banana's account because he called you out on it, c'mon! Sorry but a mod putting out popcorn to watch the ensuing fracas is fanning the flames, hardly putting the fire out.

But, I have no sympathy for banana... and I sympathize with Plavt. Banana attacks without discretion, asserts his righteousness to do so, while we as moderators try to define a line that constantly changes.

So, while I was one that disagreed with Plavt, I absolutely support his right to moderate. And again, banana wants to attack, to be right... and under the rules of this forum... just be thankful you are not on the angry board... you wouldn't be here at all, nor this post... you get to post your drivel.

but SE, i'm not looking for sympathy. all i wanted to do was to let the boy know he doesn't have to cower in the face of unreasonable people. and i have achieved that beyond my expectations because Plavt had poor impulse control.

i understand that the line is always changing. but i was under the impression that it changes with the masses, not the whims of a moderator. clearly i was wrong eh?

Ok I'm going to stick my neck out for Twista and Banana here.

Twista was given a lot of grief for something he didn't say. The title "I hate expats" was obviously Plavt's and not his. Twista's original post was negative but also sincere in making specific points. Even then, he apologised very completely, and a few times too, for what he did say although he is perfectly entitled to his view. I have seldom seen such humility on this board. Perhaps we have learnt to be a 'gracious society' after all and can now set an example for expats, some of whom have been unbelievably rude, arrogant and downright offensive on this thread.

Banana was right to call Plavt on the highly irresponsible title, and he was merely standing up to what he saw as bullying. Name-calling was not necessary but he is also right that expat posters get away with a lot worse without their accounts being suspended. How come SE gets to call Banana a "turd in a punch bowl" twice? Isn't that blatant and unwarranted name-calling? Whereas Banana was right that Plavt did stir up some shit on this thread.

So I'm with GC on this, and stand firmly on the two boys' side. Something smells bad around here.

Should somebody take a disliking to something I have said or feel it is erroneous in some way they are perfectly free to PM me and I will happily change words. At least one well known poster here does that and has done more than once. As for the name calling, that was unprovoked, I did intend to let posters have their say without getting involved hence the popcorn icon as I am sure some would have complained if I had stopped or deleted the thread. On the other hand there are others who will remain nameless choose not to take any notice when they are requested to refrain from making provocative comments. However, I do not take kindly to being called what I was called especially I did not call anybody else a name.

However, my apologies if the title upset people particularly twisa that was never my intention but I would like to point out that when a moderator splits a thread it leaves the subject title-less which the poster may change if he so wishes.. The more observant of you will have noticed twista subsequently did.

However, these are just words on a website which eventually disappear and be forgotten so can we just leave it at that? Thank you all.
