Fireworks this weekend?

Does anyone know if there are fireworks on at all over the Chinese New Year long weekend. Can't find anything on this but some of the cab drivers seem to think there are?

I don't think there are fireworks, or at least I've never seen or heard them at CNY. Then again I'm always stuck in some relative's home and not downtown so I'd miss any excitement there anyway. For that reason (most people scattered around the island in individual homes) I doubt it makes sense to have centralised fireworks.

There may be firecrackers when the lion dance troups go round to bring good luck to businesses and homes. Don't even ask me where to go to see this stuff, it's kind of all over - you'll probably see a few lorries passing by with the troups on board beating the drums and creating a din.

yeah, dont seems to have fireworks for CNY. maybe the gov forgot to put it in the budget!
